A Competition Season Kickoff for Your Faculty
Beyond the Trophy
Competition culture starts with us.
Beyond the Trophy brings studio owners and faculty together to take an honest look at the messages we send through our casting, language, reactions, expectations, what we celebrate, and who we place in the choreography.
Our dancers are watching, and the way we lead determines whether competition becomes simply about scores and trophies — or an experience that helps every dancer grow.
This is a personalized Zoom seminar created specifically for your studio and led personally by Rhee Gold.
Together, you will look at the competition culture you are creating and the role your faculty plays in shaping the experience for every dancer and family.
This is not about lowering standards or making competition less important. It is about being intentional about what we want our dancers to gain from the journey.
What is included
Owner preparation call
Before the seminar, you will meet privately with Rhee for a 30-minute preparation call. This is your opportunity to talk about your competition program, your faculty, your philosophy, and anything you would especially like Rhee to address with your team.
Live team seminar
Rhee will lead a 75-minute live Zoom seminar for your studio owner, competition directors, faculty, choreographers, and leadership team. The session includes approximately 60 minutes of presentation and conversation, followed by 15 minutes for questions and discussion. Every seminar is shaped around your studio and your competition culture.
The conversation
Your seminar may include
Every competitive program is different, so the conversation will be shaped around what your faculty needs most.
- What do we really believe competition is for?
- The trickle-down effect of faculty attitudes on dancers and parents
- Whether our actions match what we say we believe
- Casting and choreography decisions
- Giving every level and every dancer work that matters
- The language we use around scores, placements, judges, and other studios
- What we celebrate and how we celebrate it
- How faculty reactions influence dancers after wins and disappointments
- Keeping the dancer at the center of our decisions
- Creating a healthy competitive culture without lowering expectations
Before the seminar, Rhee will talk with the studio owner about what is happening inside the program so the session can focus on what your faculty needs right now.
Who this is for
Beyond the Trophy is for studio owners, competition directors, choreographers, and faculty who want to be intentional about the culture surrounding their competitive program.
It is for teams that believe competition can challenge dancers, inspire growth, and create incredible memories without allowing scores, placements, or trophies to become the reason we do it.

What will your dancers learn from watching you?
Competition culture is not created on competition weekend. It is built all season through our choices, our language, our reactions, what we celebrate, and the example we set. Our dancers are watching us.
Let's make sure the lessons they take from competition go far beyond the trophy.
